Which practice is best for seo friendly url ??

Hi,

I am developing product based shopping website, which have different main categories and than sub categories and then products in those sub catageories, so i want to know how should i make their url, so that they remain seo friendly and remain short as well, is there any benefit if your urls is short after your domainmane like example.com/abc.html.

My developer has given me three option for url to be shown on website and in search engine which are mentioned below,

domainname.com/catageory/subcatageory/product
domainname.com/subcatageory/product
domainname.com/product

Please suggest which one to use ? which will be best option.

The perfect keyword density will help achieve higher search engine positions. Keyword density needs to be balanced correctly (too low and you will not get the optimum benefit, too high and your page might get flagged for keyword spamming.

The perfect search phrase solidity will help achieve higher seo opportunities. Keyword and key phrase solidity needs to be sensible properly (too low and you will not get the the best possible benefit, too high and your page might get flagged for keyword new spamming.

I do agree with it that keywords density plays vital role. I suggest to check for the length of your URL. If the URL length is too long I suggest to skip one from beginning.

A URL like http://www.example.com/4/basic.html can be indexed much easier, whereas its dynamic form, http://www.example.com/cgi-bin/gen.pl?id=4&view=basic, can actually confuse the search engines and cause them to miss possibly important information contained in the URL, and thus preventing you from getting the expected ranking.

With clean URLs, such like above the search engines can distinguish folder names and can establish real links to keywords. Query string parameters seem to be an impediment in a search engine's attempt to perform the indexing. Many of the SEO professionals agree that dynamic (a.k.a. dirty) URLs are not very appealing to web spiders, while static URLs have greater visibility in their "eyes".

Personally I have found that sites attain the best SERP if hyphens are used and if the extension is a straightforward .html or .htm. It all goes back to trust and keeping it simple.

I will suggest the first one which is :- domainname.com/catageory/subcatageory/product

I think this is the right way to show your product.

No doubt you can use category and sub categories in the url. Just make sure to use hyphen (-) instead of underscore ( _ ) in the url.

Example: Domainname.com/category/subcategory/flower-vase
